Library Card Sigh-Up Month: Sign Up, Renew, or Replace!

This September, Alpha Park Public Library invites you to celebrate Library Card Sign-Up Month and discover how your library card hits all the right notes!

Throughout the month of September, everyone who signs up for a new APL card, renews their expired APL card, or replaces a lost APL card will be entered into the prize drawing for a new Kindle Fire HD8, courtesy of the Friends of Alpha Park Public Library. The library is also waiving the fee to replace library cards during Library Card Sign-Up Month.

“If you haven’t visited the library lately, this is a great opportunity to get your card and check out all the resources and services that are available to you,” says Library Director Amy Harris. “And with kids heading back to school, this is the perfect time to make sure your students have their own library cards!”

Anyone who lives within the library’s district can sign up for a free library card by visiting the library’s Circulation Desk with a photo ID and proof of current address. Staff can verify your eligibility based on your home address.

This year’s theme for Library Card Sign-Up Month, “A Library Card Hits All the Right Notes!,” is a reminder that libraries offer something for everyone — no matter your age, background, or goals. Whether you're checking out classics or trying something new, composing your future with new skills, finding harmony in a new hobby, or vibing with your community at a free program, your library card is your front-row ticket.

Alpha Park Library is also a fine free library, which means that patrons are no longer charged overdue fines when items are returned late. Exceptions include video games and special equipment, and patrons are still responsible for paying for lost or damaged materials.
