Gary Lisman, author of Bittersweet Memories: A History of the Peoria State Hospital, will begin at the library with a brief overview of the state hospital cemeteries and then patrons will follow Gary in their own vehicles to the state hospital grounds for a guided tour. Good footwear is essential, as some cemeteries are located on slopes and can be slippery. This event is free and open to the public, but is limited to 35 people. Sign up begins June 4 and ends June 22
Join us this summer for our 6-week adult reading program. Read at least 3 hours a week, sign in at the Information Desk and be eligible for weekly prizes. Participants are free to read any category of books. The library keeps a record of how many hours you read and makes suggestions for further reading. Attention iPad owners or those curious about them: This class is designed to help you get to know your iPad better. We’ll explore the basics, learn how to interact with the device, and discover the world of apps. Bring your iPad and let us know what tricks you’ve already discovered! Limited seating!
Friday, June 14; 6:30 – 8:30 p.m.
Team up with your friends and family and see how much trivia you know! Each team must consist of 3 to 6 people. Trivia questions will be on a wide range of topics. There will be a prize after each of the eight rounds and a grand prize at the end of the evening. The entry fee is $10 per team to be paid at time of registration. Register at the Information Desk. Refreshments will be provided.

The Great Library Race begins at the Alpha Park Library where your team of 2-6 people will race to see who can figure out the clues and fill their passports the fastest! Each team should include one member over 16 or have an adult chaperone. Ten clues will lead you to ten locations around Garfield Avenue and Airport Road. Each group will travel on foot, following all traffic laws and game rules, to complete their passports using the clues provided. First, Second and Third place prizes will be awarded and refreshments await your return to the library. Stop by the Information Desk to register your group before July 5 or call 309-697-3822, ext. 13 to register. Passports, rules & clues will be given to the groups the day of the event. Gather your family and friends, create a fun group name and enjoy a good old fashioned foot race!

Got Needles, Will Travel? Anyone with portable handiwork projects (knitting, crocheting, cross-stitch, embroidery, weaving, etc.) is welcome to join this friendly group. From beginner to expert, you’ll find people to learn and laugh with.
