Backpacks Offered During National Library Card Sign-Up – Sept. 1-30
September is National Library Card Sign-up Month. Alpha Park Library will be participating in this national event September 1 through 30. First time card holders may come to the library and present proof of residency in the form of an ID with current address. Library cards for children age 14 and under will require parent signature and ID. New card holders will automatically be placed into a drawing for an exclusive backpack made especially for this event. Ten backpacks will be given away. The drawing will be held on October 1, 2014.
FRIENDS-LY NEWS @ THE LIBRARY
The Friends of the Library, after a successful book sale in June ($500-plus in profits, after expenses for pretty spiffy banners), took a summer break. But summer is over. The first fall meeting of the Friends will be held on Thursday, September 11, at 6:30 P.M. Not only that: the Friends, for the third year in a row, will be riding in the LCHS homecoming parade on Friday, September 19. If you want to be in a parade, come on over for the meeting on the 11th to learn more.
Membership dues for the Friends right now = $0.00. Such a deal! The Friends have raised many dollars for APL, with purchases like the new reference desk as proof of the Friends’ generosity. Live bodies are always needed for Friends projects. More information needed? Call Amber Hopwood, Friends president, at 697-3097, or John Richmond, Library Director, at 697-3822, x. 12.
Making Your Library Card Work For You!!
FREE Services @ APL
eAccounts – Your Library Account Online – From our website you can access the online library catalog and sign in to your library account. You’ll need your library card number & password. Logging in allows you to renew many of your materials, place holds on items, change your email address, and more!
eMailed Receipts – Have your check-out receipt emailed! When you check out your books, ask to have your receipt emailed. It’s a great way to keep track of what you have checked-out and when items are due.
Checkout History – Our system can now keep track of the books you’ve checked out once they are returned! You can now turn this feature on by contacting the library. Once activated, every time an item is returned, it will be added to your history. This will be helpful to those who like to keep track of what they’ve checked out in the past. Call the library at 697-3822, ext. 13, to turn this feature on for your account.
