OUTDOOR WROCK CONCERT
Thursday, May 22nd, 6:00-8:00 p.m.
Attention Harry Potter Fans of all ages! Wizard Rock is coming to central Illinois. Not familiar with wrock? Come out and hear what all the fuss is about! You can check out the bands at www.myspace.com/chasingquaffles and www.myspace.com/acciobodyguard. This outdoor concert will be held at the Alpha Park pavilion. That’s Alpha Park itself, NOT the library. Admission is $1.

 

 

RED CROSS BABYSITTING COURSE
Thursday & Friday, June 5th & 6th; 1:00-4:00 p.m.
The Red Cross Babysitter’s Training Course prepares youth in basic child care, safe play, first aid and emergency action skills. Students should be 11 years old by the class date. The cost of the course is $50. Please register by calling the American Red Cross at 677-7272.

 


TEEN BOARD

Thursday, June 5th; 7:30 - 8:30 p.m.

Looking to have some fun, meet new friends, and become more active in your community? Join Alpha Park Library’s Teen Board! The Teen Board plans library events exclusively for teens and gives library staff input on library materials geared toward teens! Teen Board members must be in 7th through 12th Grades and have an Alpha Park Library Card. Meetings are held the first Thursday of each month from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. If you have missed out, show up at the next meeting or call Youth Services at 697-3822, ext. 14.

 

 

MEHNDI: HENNA BODY ART
Thursday, June 12th, 7:00-9:00 p.m.
Mehndi is the Indian word for henna, a red plant that grows in the Middle East. Teens are invited to join their friends to learn more about the plant, how various cultures use henna and try their hand at some body art of their own.

 


SUMMER VOLUNTEERS @ ALPHA PARK
Interested volunteers (6th grade and up) who would like to sign-up for volunteer hours in the children’s department should sign up as soon as possible.
